What is a Retrospective Study?

Retrospective Studies – A Source for Confusion

Studies performed using a retrospective methodology are easier to conduct and less expensive than the prospective randomized trial but the findings may or may not be valid. There are many potential biases, making it difficult to trust the results. Most studies use this methodology but it is rarely mentioned when the results are presented. The question addressed in the video is whether or not the results of a retrospective study should guide physician’s recommendations about your treatment.
