How Can You Prevent Prostate Cancer?

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with about 200,000 new cases expected in the next 12 months. Being so common, many people wonder if they can do anything to prevent the disease. Maintaining a healthy diet and doing regular exercise are good for general health but are there dietary do’s and don’ts that can help avoid the disease? What about any other activities or medications, can they prevent the disease from developing? Fortunately, studies have shown that the disease can be prevented using drugs approved for prostate enlargement. Many over-the-counter herbs, vitamins and supplements are often promoted for this purpose but do they work? Have they been adequately studied? Is there any danger? And finally, what should you do? Before you incorporate any of these activities, you might want to know the facts and then be able to make a more informed decision. (Updated December, 2010)
