Hormone Therapy for Localized Disease

Hormone Therapy refers to a treatment that takes advantage of the fact that prostate cells need the male sex hormone, testosterone to help them grow. Lowering the testosterone essentially starves these cells causing their growth to slow or the cells to die. It is a reasonable option for some men with localized disease but it does have side effects. This can be given either as Continuous Hormone Therapy, or, Intermittent Hormone Therapy. Find out the risks and benefits and if you are a suitable candidate for either approach.
