Radical Prostatectomy for Locally Advanced Disease

Although the tumor is not confined to the prostate, radical prostatectomy does remain a treatment option. What is not known is whether it is as good, better or worse than radiation. Patients whose tumor is not fixed on physical exam are probably the best candidates. The complications are similar to those for surgery to treat localized disease.
